An interesting piece from the New York Times raises the question: is the mobile market, and the market for mobile broadband, growing too fast for the technical infrastructure required to support it?
According to one of the article’s sources, Screen Digest, the number of mobile broadband subscribers nearly doubled in 2008, and as a result, some mobile broadband networks are getting sluggish and/or subject to download interruptions stemming from from too much data transfer.
While the user market seems more than poised for substantial growth (according to Screen Digest, less than 9% of the 186 million mobile users with 3G service have mobile broadband), the question of whether the technical infrastructure can keep pace is very much open.
The mobile porn industry has a lot at stake where this question is concerned, obviously. First off, mobile porn viewing is an increasingly common application for smart phones and other mobile platforms. Second, mobile porn tends to involve some pretty hefty files, especially where mobile porn videos are concerned.
What does the technical infrastructure future hold for mobile porn users? We’ll all have to wait and see — and hopefully all our xxx mobile video downloads will be finished before that answer comes.
